Vaughan is a city in York Region north of Toronto. Vaughan is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Canada,having nearly doubled in population since 1991. Vaughan is part of the Greater Toronto Area. Its slogan is "The city above Toronto". Vaughan is bounded by Caledon and Brampton to the west, King and Richmond Hill to the north, Markham and Richmond Hill to the east, and Toronto to the south. Vaughan is one of southern Ontario's fastest growing cities. According to Statistics Canada, the population rew 37.3 percent in a mere four year period (more than 9.3% annually), and also has a young age profile than the Canadian average as 22.3 percent is under the age of 14, while those over 65 constitute 8.15%, one of the lowest in Ontario resulting in an average age of 34.1. Vaughan is reputably known as having some of the highest concentrations of southern Europeans (notably Italians), Eastern Europeans (chiefly Russians and Poles) and Jewish people in Ontario, while those who are of British and/or Irish origin form a smaller proportion than in many othersouthern Ontario cities. Around 19 percent of the population are members of visible minority (non-European/white). Vaughan has a large South Asian population, with Indian and Pakistani Canadians holding a large portion of the non-white population. Vaughan also has a small but growing Hispanic, Jamaican, Vietnamese and Chinese population. Residents of Vaughan are very religious; the city has the lowest number of non-affiliates in Ontario. Some 67.42% of the population adheres to Christianity, mostly Roman Catholicism (55.80%). Woodbridge, Ontario, North/South - Teston/Steeles, East/West - Hwy 400/Hwy 50 Woodbridge -Vaughan (Also known as The Memorial City) is a large suburban community in the City of Vaughan, just north of Toronto. It was once an independent town before being amalgamated with nearby communities to form the city in 1971. Its traditional downtown core is the Woodbridge Ave. stretch between Islington Avenue and Kipling Avenue north of Highway 7. Woodbridge has a large Italian immigrant population. Woodbridge has no political boundaries, but is commonly viewed as lying between either Highway 50 or Highway 27 to the west, Steeles Avenue to the south, Highway 400 to the east, and Major Mackenzie Driveto the north. However, new housing subdivisions being built north of Major Mackenzie between Pine Valley and the 400, have been given names like "Woodbridge Retreat" by developers, and will most likely extend the popularly accepted northeast boundary northwards to Teston Road. Home to a large Italian-Canadian population, Woodbridge has seen a slight increase in Arab-Canadians, Indo-Canadians, Romanian-Canadians, Persian-Canadians and Hispanic-Canadians. Maple, Ontario, North/South - King Vaughan Line/Rutherford, East/West - Bathurst/Hwy 400 Maple-Vaughan is a high-growth suburban community northwest of Toronto part of the city of Vaughan in York Region.The west branch of the Don River rises to the northwest and flows 1 km west of Maple. Several creeks are to the east and the Black Creek begins slightly west of Vellore. The Oak Ridges Moraine is to the northeast which supplies a lot of water to the Greater Toronto Area. Black Creek flows in the west, the Don River flows to the northern and the eastern part. York University Keele Campus is to the south on Keele, and is accessed 2 km northeast from Toronto. Maple is accessed by Major Mackenzie Drive and Keele Street. The nearest exit is 3 km west at Highway 400 and Major Mackenzie. The industrial areas are south and west of Maple, closer to Highway 407, and the Canadian National yards north of Highway 7 (Ontario). Maple is located 13 km NE of Woodbridge, 11 km E of Kleinburg 8 km S of King City, 6.5 km from downtown Richmond Hill 12 km NW of Thornhill N of Highway 401, and SSE of Barrie. Maple is accessed by a Canadian National line (Toronto - Washago) to its east with its GO Transit Barrie commuter line rail stations at Mapleand Rutherford GO stations. Toronto Transit Commission, York Region Transit, and GO Transit buses serve the area. Maple formerly had a small airport in the west, which was closed down in the late 20th century. The runways ran diagonally like the letter x, the runway from northwest to southeast was the longer, and the other ran southwest to northeast. Streets like Avro, Lockheed, and Mustang on the site of the airport are named after airplanes. In 2006 Maple gained bus-rapid-transit service under York Region's Viva system. Thornhill, North/South - Rutherford/Steeles, East/West - Yonge/Dufferin Thornhill is an upscale community in the Greater Toronto Area in southern Ontario, Canada, located on the northern border of the City of Toronto. Once a municipal village, Thornhill is now a community and postal designation geographically split into two municipalities, Vaughan, west of Yonge Street, and the town of Markham, east of Yonge. According to the 2001 Census, the population of the Thornhill-Vaughan was 56,361, and the population of Thornhill-Markham was 47,333. Thornhill is considered one of the Greater Toronto Area's more upscale communities. The median household income in Thornhill is over $87,000; the mean household income is in excess of $100,000 compared with $50,600 across the Greater Toronto Area. As a political riding, Thornhill consistently appears in the top three ridings across Canada in terms of household income. Of all households, 61 per cent of the community earns an income in excess of $70,000. Approximately 89 per cent of Thornhill residents own their home. Concord, Ontario, North/South - Rutherford/Steeles, East/West - Dufferin/Hwy 400Concord Concord-Vaughan is a suburban community in the City of Vaughan in York Region, located north of Toronto. It is accessed by two superhighways: Highway 407 and Highway 400. Concord is located west of Thornhill, north of Highway 401, northeast of Brampton and SSE of Barrie. Concord is bordered by the Black Creek river to the west and the Don River to the north. Kleinburg, Ontario, North/South - Major Mac/Kirby, East/West - Pine Valley/Hwy 50 Kleinburg is a small unincorporated village located in the city of Vaughan. It is home to the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, a major art gallery, and the Kortright Centre, a conservation area.Kleinburg comprises a narrow section of hilly landscape situated between two branches of the Humber river. The historic village is bounded by Highway 27 on the west and Stegman’s Mill Road to the east .
