Angus Glen - Markham Homes

Angus Glen is a community in the north part of the Town of Markham and is part of Unionville.The major arteries are  Kennedy and Major Mac Drive  The area was originally farm land, but as the land south has been developed, pressure is increasing to redevelop this area into residential neighbourhood; a new real estate of West Village is under on-going construction.In addition to the famous golf course, the area is home to the William Berczy Historic Cemetery, which contains the graves of the early settlers of Markham.The Angus Glen golf course   is one of the best Golf courses around Toronto.The Angus Glen Community centre is right at the interection of Warden and Major Mac and provides excellent activities for all ages .Call Tom if you are planning to buy or sell home in Markham

Armadale - Markham Homes

Armadale is the name of a community that overlaps into the Town of Markham and the former city of Scarborough in Toronto. The historical community is situated in the south-east of Markham and north-east of Scarborough.The Markham portion was developed in the 1980s and 1990s as a residential community from farm land. This area of Markham is home to predominantly middle to lower-income families, and basement apartments are common. There is  also a visible infrastructural decay of neighbourhoods located here.

South of Steeles Avenue, the land has remained undeveloped with many abandoned farms and apple orchards. Small industrial and commercial parks were built in the area. There are many businesses and factories along Passmore Avenue. A plaza, containing T & T Supermarket along with many shops catering to Asian customers, was recently opened to the east of the farm along Middlefield Road and Steeles Avenue. Along Steeles Avenue east of Markham was a small farm selling vegetables with industrial parks lining the south part of the farm, however this farm will soon disappear as a new Asian-oriented shopping centre will be built on the property.Call Tom if you are planning to buy or sell home in Markham

Berczy Village - Markham Homes

Berczy Village is a residential community located in Markham. It is bounded, to the north by Major Mackenzie Drive, to the east by McCowan Road, to the south by 16th Avenue, and to the west by Kennedy Road. This area is part of northern Unionville within the Town of Markham. The community is named after the founder of Markham and one of its earliest settlers, William Berczy. The name can be found on limestone plaques found throughout the community's many arterial road entrances.The Village is particularly known for its eclectic variety of mixed-income dwellings and the vast amount of green space that is found in most parts within the subdivision. Townhouses can be found all along Bur Oak Avenue, whereas semi-detached and detached homes are found on residential streets. It is also noted for the many garage alleyways found behind the townhomes and the plentiful spacious catwalks.

Berczy Village is just one of many community areas across the country that have adhered to Smart Growth Initiatives for suburban communities. The carefully planned urban design scheme puts an emphasis on open space, protection of environmentally sensitive areas, and conservation of woodlots.

Cedar Grove - Markham Homes

Cedar Grove,  is a community under development in Markham. Located near the northeast end of the town at 14th Avenue and Ressor Road. Much of the land is currently agricultural. It was home to a famous outdoor hockey rink that was one of the largest in the province.

Little Rouge River, a small waterway is part of the Rouge River system with water flowing from the Oak Ridges Moraine to the north of the community.

Box Grove - Markham Homes 

Box Grove  is a community in Markham and undergoing a transformation from protected agricultural to residential use. The area's name is likely linked to the hamlet of Box Grove in West Sussex, England.Box Grove is located in the area around Ninth Line (also known as Box Grove By-Pass) and 14th Avenue. Residential development began in the late 1990s and continues today. Recent development describes the area as a prestigious residential community.There are pockets of residential development near the former IBM golf course, but the eastern sections still have some farm land.

Buttonville - Markham Homes

Buttonville is a suburban community within the Town of Markham in York Region, directly north of Toronto. It is located in the western part of Markham. The population is presently about 30,000. Rouge River is to the northeast and Buttonville Airport is directly west of Buttonville. The superhighway Highway 404 is to the west with 4 interchanges and the nearest interchange with the Highway 407 Express Toll Route (ETR) is 2 km south on Woodbine Avenue. The population live in the eastern, northeastern and the northern parts while the industrial area of Markham is to the west and the south down to Steeles. The industrial area is home to many technology companies near the airport (which incidentally is the location of where weather reports are taken for the Weather Network)

Cornell - Markham Homes 

Cornell is a new community being developed in northeast Markham, and bounded by Highway 407, 16th Avenue, Ninth Line, and the Don Cousens Parkway.

Most of the houses are townhomes, semi-detached or detached houses with garages at the rear. The communities are built with central amenities in order to contain suburban sprawl. Cornell was seen by the Markham Town Council as a way to deter the ongoing sprawl by encouraging residential density. The northern section of Cornell (north of Highway 7) is fully populated with medium density residential. The southern section of Cornell (south of Highway 7), however, is not populated, and remains as a wild field and a farm.

Greenborough-Markham Homes                                                          

Greensborough is a community in the Town of Markham in the Canadian province of Ontario.The community is one of the easternmost community in Markham, just north of Cornell, and east of Mount Joy. It includes the area north of 16th Avenue, east of Ninth Line, south of Major MacKenzie Drive and east of Reesor Road. Most of the community's northern area (areas north of Donald Cousens Way) remains uninhabited. South of Donald Cousens Way, it is occupied with medium density, European style townhouses.

Cachet - Markham Homes

Cachet is a community within north-central Markham. It is bounded by 16th Avenue to the south, Major Mackenzie Drive to the north, Warden Avenue to the east and Woodbine Avenue to the west.The area is a residential development that has replaced farm land that once defined the town. The residents of Cachet consist mostly of middle to upper-income families and the housing is comprised of large single family homes. The Cachet Centre is a small strip mall that services mainly to local residents. The population of the community is predominantly people of East Asian and European heritage.

The Rouge River and Berczy Creek flows through the community, but most of the natural areas of the community has disappeared to residential development. This neighbourhood is also home to Ashton Meadows Public School and St. Augustine Catholic High School. The Ashton Meadows community is government-housing.

Cashel - Markham Houses

Cashel, Ontario is a community located at the intersection of Elgin Mills Road and York Regional Road 67. There are few dwellings located at the site, most of them near York Regional Road 3, the western boundary of this community. Other parts of the community is mainly farmlands. Cashel's northern boundary is the town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. The community is home to the Markham Fairgrounds

Wismer Commons -Markham Homes

Wismer Commons is one of the newest developing residential area of Markham, Ontario. It is located north of 16th Avenue,west of Highway 48 and east of Kennedy Road. Wismer Commons is named after the Wismer Family, one of the original founding pioneer families of Markham, Ontario. The family of David Wismer, originally from Germany and subsequently Pennsylvania, arrived in Markham Township in 1806.

After the deaths of both David and Lydia Wismer in 1856, the Wismer Family continued to donate property to various community organizations, including the land for the construction of the first school in this area. This original one-room schoolhouse, located near the south west corner of 16th Avenue and Highway 48, was replaced around the year 1864, with a new school to the north, where the present Markham Museum now stands.

The name Wismer Commons can be found on stone plaques erected on both sides of the road at main arterial road entrances of developed regions of the community, such as the intersection of Bur Oak Avenue and McCowan Road.

The demographics of Wismer Commons is diverse with residents coming from predominantly East Asian (mostly Chinese Canadian) heritage. Residents of Berczy Village also include South Asian, Middle Eastern, European, African, and mixed heritage Canadian families. The demographics of Wismer Commons is very similar to the demographics of Berczy Village, the neighbouring community to the west of Wismer Commons.

Vinegar Hill - Markham Homes

 Vinegar Hill is an unincorporated community in Markham, located at the junction of Highway 48 and Highway 407. The community is located just south of the historic village of Markham, but little remains of the history of its past.Some of the old homes along Highway 48 are either abandoned or near collapse. The small bridge with 2 lanes of traffic traverse over the Rouge River.The south end of community near Highway 407 (Ontario) is now home to a new residential development.

Unionville - Markham Homes

Unionville is a suburban community in Markham, . It is located 33 km northeast of downtown Toronto and 4 km east of southern Richmond Hill. Main Street, which was Kennedy Road in the mid to late 20th century, runs through Unionville while the new Kennedy runs 300 m to the east. Buttonville is located in the west central part of Markham.

The population of Unionville is presently about 30,000. Unionville is said to be one of the most affluent areas in the Greater Toronto Area with an average household income of $127,900. The average house is about 20 years old. The average age is about 42 years old. There is approximently 9500 homes. About 94% of the population owns their house and about 6% rent. Rouge River runs north of the central part of Unionville and to the southeast. The highway (Highway 404) is to the west, the nearest interchange with the 407 ETR is 2 km south on Kennedy Rd. The population lives in almost all parts of Unionville except for the south central industrialized area. The railway line which links the area to Toronto via GO Train Service once ran as far as Lindsay, a town near Peterborough.

Tourism is a major part of Unionville's economy. The historic village or downtown section of Unionville is typical of a small town that developed over a century or so starting in the early 1840s through the middle to late 20th century. The historic Main Street Unionville attracts thousands of visitors each year - as of 2006 it boasted 9 restaurants, including 3 pubs. Main Street also has a number of "century homes" dating back to the 1800s. Each year, thousands visit Unionville during the Unionville Festival.

The main street has been used as a stand-in for fictional Connecticut town Stars Hollow during the first season of The WB's (now The CW) Gilmore Girls television show, as well as other television and movie backdrops.

Most of the historic buildings in Unionville are included in List of historic buildings in Markham, Ontario.

Rouge Fairways- Markham Homes

 Rouge Fairways is a planned community located in east part of Markham.The community is developed from lands along the old IBM Golf and Country Club in the late 1990s. Some of the local roads in the community retain links to the old golf course. The remaining farmland in the area has all but disappeared. The Rouge River cuts through the community and includes the village of Boxwood, Ontario.Part of the old course is now the Markham Green Golf and Country Club and Parkview Golf Course.The community consist of large and single detached homes.
